# Filtering

This chapter describes how you filter the data of a report.

Filter the data in the Report Designer. There you can combine conditions with "And", "Or" and "Not". You can filter on every property of the query, even if it is not shown in the report.

### <mark style="color:blue;">Open the FilterString Editor</mark>

Open the Report Designer with **Edit report layout...**. After opening, the report itself is selected. In the **Properties** panel switch to the **Data** tab and click on **...** at **Filter String**.

Alternatively you click on the little box at the upper left hand corner of the layout and then on **...** under **Filter String**.

### <mark style="color:blue;">Add Conditions</mark>

The FilterString Editor opens. When you move your mouse pointer to the right of **And**, a + sign appears. Click on it and select **Add Condition**. Then select the property, the operator and the value.

If you click on **And**, you can change it to **Or**, **Not And** or **Not Or**. At the bottom of the dialog you see the condition as text. You can also edit the condition there.

In this example the report shows only the valves with the spec CS150 or with the size 80:

```
[Inline Assets_Spec] = 'CS150' Or [Inline Assets_Size] = '80'
```

A step by step example with **Not And** is described under [Create Version/Revision History](/plant-tools/plantreporter/how-to-use/plantreporter/use-cases/create-versionrevision-history.md).

Remark: Use the filter of the Report Designer and not the **Filter** column in the query of the report configuration.
