# Open, Close, User Interface

This chapter describes how you the SymbolsPalette is opened and closed. Also getting an overview of the User interface.

Depending on the settings for the SymbolsPalette, the palette can be automatically opened when starting Plant 3D (see [SymbolsPalette Settings](/plant-tools/plantexpresstools/settings/symbolspalette.md)). In any case you can open and close the SymbolsPalette with the toggle button in the ribbon.

The SymbolsPalette then opens with out any selection of a class. As with any AutoCAD palette you can close the SymbolsPalette also with the close (X) icon on the palette.

| The User interface can be divided up into the left side (1) and right side (2).
