# Hide/Show P\&ID/Custom Classes and Folder Links

This chapter describes how Classes can be hidden and shown in the tree of the SymbolsPalette.

<details>

<summary>Hide Class</summary>

Enable **Edit Mode** first (see [Edit Mode)](/plant-tools/plantexpresstools/how-to-use/symbolspalette/usage/edit-mode.md). You can hide a class by making a right-click on the class and use **Hide**.

![](/files/lsEj15N00LNZ1pvRpE51)

Now the class has disappeared.

![](/files/T0GLdTUKrszSVQksIFcY)

If you use **Custom Classes** (see [Create Custom Class](/plant-tools/plantexpresstools/how-to-use/symbolspalette/usage/create-custom-class.md)) then you can hide them as well.

![](/files/RKTQxZLKistuGzSU8NBb)

And as with regular P\&ID classes, the **Custom Classes** disappear too.

![](/files/CqvMOsngvnlTrpfNK11A)

At the end of the process disable the **Edit Mode** again (see [Edit Mode)](/plant-tools/plantexpresstools/how-to-use/symbolspalette/usage/edit-mode.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Show/Hide hidden Classes</summary>

If you want to see the class again, you use the toggle button at the top.

![](/files/QwdyDOEU0BoWWXY5xM5Z)

Now you see the hidden class in a greyed out style. Also the symbol and the symbol's class or display name shows greyed out.

![](/files/Xt8yIBPWPToExxTbxv27)

If you select a node which includes the hidden class, the class, symbol and symbol's name shows greyed out too.

![](/files/GaWQZhoyBe437ND02ynH)

How opaque the texts and symbol should appear can be set in the PlantExpressTools Settings (see [SymbolsPalette](/plant-tools/plantexpresstools/settings/symbolspalette.md)).

![](/files/mnyUTUwblmKDm4BXp3Od)

![](/files/N4WiN2CNvWqUsS22JvB3)

![](/files/V0u1X2RDwI9h2saWa3Kr)

Instead of using the toggle button, you can also use the context menu and use **Show all classes, including the hidden ones**.

![](/files/Ep5gJxGOpQfqbKW5ysOV)

And to hide the hidden classes again you use **Hide all hidden marked classes**.

![](/files/m4noegURuWXH73akiL1U)

<details>

<summary>Hide Node</summary>

Enable **Edit Mode** first (see [Edit Mode)](/plant-tools/plantexpresstools/how-to-use/symbolspalette/usage/edit-mode.md). Besides hiding a class you can also hide a whole node with multiple classes. You also use **Hide**.

<summary>Hidden Classes/Nodes in Categories</summary>

Enable **Edit Mode** first (see [Edit Mode)](/plant-tools/plantexpresstools/how-to-use/symbolspalette/usage/edit-mode.md). Hidden classes or nodes also have an effect on the categories. Here is an example of the **Lines** category where you see all Pipe Line Segments and signal Line Segments.

![](/files/2qEcIRuSAwKZhFEjT5QZ)

Now we hide the Signal Line Segments class.

![](/files/gbxBadlodpQLi8wISmBU)
